Growing up in the Chesapeake Bay Area of
Maryland, I've spent countless hours on the
water, since before I could even walk on land. I
originally started fishing Largemouth Bass
Tournaments with my father, which is where I
acquired a tremendous love, appreciation, and
respect for the waterways of this awesome
country we live in.
I would have to say I didn't find waterfowling.
It found me. A couple trips to the local
Sporting Clays range as a young guy, my
determination paid off, not only by becoming a
decent wing shooter, but getting paired up on a
team with two experienced waterfowlers. One of
which is still my hunting partner to this day.
So the pursuit began. The sport consumed me! It
became an integral part of my family and it's
life. It's a part of us that could never be
replaced with anything else. Now you can find me
anywhere from trudging the flooded timbers,
marsh blinds, and goose fields, to layout or
blind shooting the open waters of the
Chesapeake.
First and foremost, remember to repay your dues
to the veterans and "legends" of our sport
whenever possible - considering they paved the
way for what we do today. It is also just as
crucial to take a kid hunting. They are the
future of our tradition!
